       Returns Policy

This policy applies to titles correctly supplied in proper condition. (For returns permission for faulty titles or titles supplied in error, contact Orca Book Services Customer Services Department, on 01202-665432).

1.     All titles are supplied on a firm sale basis unless otherwise agreed in writing at the time of ordering.

2.     Returns of correctly supplied titles may be authorised only where the following is adhered to and will only be credited if the books had previously been supplied by Orca.

3.     Titles (and quantities & ISBNs) for which a returns authorisation is requested must be listed by the customer quoting the invoice number on a returns request

4.     Authorised returns must be accompanied by the written authorisation from an approved employee or agent of the publisher together with the invoice number the books have been supplied on and the authorisation label quoting the Authorisation Reference Number clearly visible outside each box.

5.     Returns will not usually be considered for titles, which have been purchased less than three or more than fifteen months previously, or which have been superseded by a paperback edition or are out of print. The quantity of returns authorisation will be limited to the number of copies (net of previous returns and valid pending authorisations) supplied within the preceding fifteen months.

6.     Returns of annual publications will only be authorised, received and credited up until 31 March of the following year of publication.

7.     Orca will credit all correctly authorised documented returns received in mint condition in full. Any returns received in other than mint condition, security tagged, price stickered, or unauthorised will not be credited and Orca reserves the right to dispose of these books as seen fit.

8.     Authorised returns will be credited only if received at the instructed address (currently Orca Book Services, Unit A3, Fleets Corner, Poole, Dorset, BH17 0HL) within 30 days of the date of authorization.

All returns should be made carriage paid.

Application Form

Your account number, credit period, credit limit and invoicing day are detailed on the covering letter.  Please acknowledge your acceptance of these terms by signing both copies and returning one to Orca Book Services.

Our terms of supply, which you are deemed to accept in the placing of any order, are as follows.

Payment must be made in full by the invoice due date. Failure to pay in accordance with this shall entitle Orca Book Services without prejudice to cease supplies immediately and to charge interest at the rate of up to 8% per month above the Bank of England base rate on the amount outstanding together with compensation for debt recovery costs pursuant to the provisions of the “Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998 and as amended and supplemented by The Late Payment of Commercial Debts Regulations 2002".

Please note that we do not offer early settlement discounts.

We operate a cyclical ordering system and initially we will invoice you on a weekly basis.  However, we may alter this at a later date if a change would be more efficient.

All payments by credit card will carry a charge of 2%.  This will be added on to the total payment at the time of debiting

We operate under a ‘retention of title’ basis, whereby all goods remain the property of the relevant publisher until paid for in full.
